Netflix isn’t just for adults to enjoy. There’s plenty of kids’ shows on the streaming platform as well. Whether your youngsters gravitate more toward science or art, there’s something for everyone including toddlers.

Of course this isn’t a full list of all the great shows Netflix has to offer. Some others include newer shows like Gabby’s Dollhouse, and throwback ones like Thomas & Friends. We’ve rounded up five children’s shows that need to be on the watch list.

These are sure to keep your toddler glued to the screen – which is good just during the limited screen time they get. Definitely not all day. They don’t need to get into the binge-watching habits just yet!

Great shows for toddlers on Netflix

CocoMelon

I know, I know. I’m sure pretty much all you parents have heard about CocoMelon. The series on Netflix is a really great show though. It became a hit for the youngsters and met parents’ approval. Since its debut in 2020, the series has become a success on the streaming service. Kids can learn letters, numbers, animal sounds, and more in the musical series. There’s five seasons, so plenty of episodes for kids to enjoy.

OctoNauts

OctoNauts is one of the many children’s television series on Netflix that are based on books. A team of eight brave underwater explorers take kids on a hero’s journey each episode as they comb the world’s oceans for creatures who need help. The four-season series is a fun option for kids to learn, and the fictional heroes use different technology to help them on their adventures.

Ada Twist, Scientist

This show may be a bit more advanced for toddlers, but it’s never too early to get children excited about the world of STEM. Right? Ada Twist, Scientist became a Netflix hit, and is great for kiddos who are smarter than their age. What’s awesome about Ada is that she’s become a role model for little girls who may want to go into science, something that’s still mostly a male-dominated field. And if you’re in the Chicago suburbs area, make sure to check out the DuPage Children’s Museum. It has a whole exhibit, The Questioneers, with Ada and other characters from the book series.

The Magic School Bus

The last two shows on the list are older, but they’re classics for a reason. Before Ada came around, another female character was getting kids excited about science. The Magic School Bus has been around since 1994 and still successfully teaches children, while having fun. Science teacher Ms. Frizzle takes her students on field trips to outer space, under the sea, and even inside the human body thanks to her trusty Magic School Bus.

Barney

You know we can’t talk about children’s shows and not include Barney. You just have to! Like The Magic School Bus, the big purple dinosaur has been making learning fun since the early 90s. I mean, he’s pretty much the OG of children’s shows. You really can’t go wrong with Barney, Baby Bop, and B.J. Their adventures and songs are still bringing smiles to kids’ faces!
