Netflix is consistently diversifying its content to represent people from all walks of life and backgrounds, and we’re so happy to see the streamer standing its ground and making sure everyone can see themselves on screen.

Heartstopper is a British LGBT coming-of-age series based on the graphic novel titled the same name by Alice Oseman. Euros Lyn directed the show from a screenplay written by Oseman.

There’s so much you should know about the teen series, such as release updates, cast, synopsis, and more. Read on to find out all the important details about Heartstopper.

Where was Heartstopper filmed?

Production started late April 2021 and wrapped sometime in June 2021. It has been reported that filming took place primarily in England.

Heartstopper release date

On March 16, Netflix officially announced that the series would be released on Friday, April 22. On that day, all eight chapters of the love story will hit our watch lists.

Prior to the announcement, the show was expected to arrive on Netflix in 2022. Since filming wrapped in June and the show most likely entered post-production right after, the filmmaking process had been believed to be finished. Post-production typically lasts from six to eight months.

So post-production could have finished sometime between December 2021 and February 2022. This set the show up for a spring 2022 release at the earliest, which thankfully wound up happening. We didn’t have to wait until the summer for this one.
