Firefly Lane season 2 and more romantic Netflix shows coming in 2022

Since this year has mostly been about Stranger Things and its eagerly awaited comeback with season 4, it’s understandable why the fan-favorite series has pulled focus from some of the other Netflix shows set for release in 2022.

While massively popular shows like Stranger Things, Ozark, and Outer Banks are hands-down among the best on Netflix, there are also a number of romantic Netflix shows that have huge followings. Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and Never Have I Ever are some of the best in romance.

Of course, Sweet Magnolias kicked off the year with a new season full of love and drama, but what else does Netflix have in store this year by way of romantic shows?

Romantic Netflix shows coming in 2022

These are some of the most anticipated romantic Netflix shows with planned releases throughout the year. Ginny & Georgia and Virgin River fans are counting down the days until the new seasons are released, but let’s begin with the underrated series Firefly Lane.

Firefly Lane season 2

Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke star in Firefly Lane as best friends Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey, whose friendship is explored from their teenage years in the 1970s to their adulthood in the 2000s. The series, which is based on the book of the same name by Kristin Hannah, was a hit on Netflix and will return sometime in 2022 with its highly anticipated second season.

Virgin River season 4

If you’re a fan of Virgin River, then you’re definitely impatiently awaiting the next season to drop on Netflix. Another romantic drama based on a series of books, Virgin River takes place in the titular coastal small town. We’re waiting with bated breath to find out who really shot Jack and what’s next for Mel. Expect season 4 to drop sometime this summer.

Emily in Paris season 3

The show everyone either loves to hate or hates to love (but we just plain love it!) will be back with another season in 2022. Emily in Paris season 2 debuted in December 21 ahead of the holidays and ended on a high-stakes cliffhanger for our titular marketing exec. Netflix renewed Emily in Paris for season 3 (and season 4!), which should again make an end-of-year premiere.

Ginny & Georgia season 2

Even though it’s one of the best mother-daughter shows on Netflix, there’s still plenty of romance to go around as the titular mother and daughter explore their romantic relationships outside of their own complicated familial dynamic. Ginny & Georgia season 2 will arrive over a year after the first season first premiered, but we know this one will be worth the wait.

Never Have I Ever season 3

There’s some bittersweet news when it comes to Never Have I Ever. The good news: Never Have I Ever season 3 will be released on Netflix in summer 2022. The not-so-good news: The following season, Never Have I Ever season 4, will be the final season of the teen rom-com. For now, we can revel in all of the drama the Devi-Ben-Paxton love triangle has to offer in the upcoming season 3!
