Bridgerton season 2 has arrived and if you’ve made it to this particular post, chances are you’ve just finished the first episode of the season and your interest was piqued by the tribute which capped off the season opener.

Across the first episode of the season, Bridgerton quickly pulls audiences in as it introduces the key players of the season and begins putting the pieces of the season 2 puzzle in place. It was an eventful debut episode — have no fear, there are no spoilers ahead —  which laid the groundwork for the season.

As the season premiere credits began to roll, a special tribute appeared on the screen as the show looked to celebrate the legacy of Marc Pilcher who played a key role on the show behind the scenes.

Who Marc Pilcher? (And what is his connection to Bridgerton season 2?)

The name Marc Pilcher might not ring a bell upon first hearing it and that’s because Pilcher did not appear in front of the camera, but rather played a key role behind-the-scenes of Bridgerton.

Pilcher was part of the amazing hair and makeup team responsible for bringing Bridgerton‘s iconic looks to life. His work on season 1 earned him the Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling Emmy in September 2021 at the Prime Emmy Awards, an honor he shares with his fellow styling team.

Sadly, Pilcher passed away in October 2021 at the age of 52 from COVID-19. The tribute at the end of the season 2 premiere was designed to celebrate Pilcher’s life and contributions to Bridgerton.

In addition to his work on Bridgerton, Pilcher’s additional credits include work on Downton Abbey, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Beauty and the Beast and Mary Queen of Scots, the latter of which scored him an Oscar nomination for Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling.
