Check out our recommendations for the best Netflix shows for this weekend. Of course, we’ve started the list with Bridgerton; what else?

Bridgerton

This series doesn’t really need an introduction. Bridgerton, the series from Shondaland, has fans in a tizzy as the second season has finally been released on Netflix.

The first season focused on Daphne, the eldest daughter, and her quest to find a husband. Season 2 will see the Viscount search for a wife, but he has a much different approach than his sister. As the season begins, his intentions of seeking a bride become widely circulated, and all the eligible girls are vying for his attention.

Lady Whistledown, whose identity has remained a mystery to everyone, but the viewers, will once again take up her quill and pen all the gossip of the ton.

It will be a fantastic season as viewers get reacquainted with the characters and are introduced to several new ones.

Top Boy

The series Top Boy has released season 2 after a three-year wait. The official trailer shows that stakes are higher this season and “Loyalty before everything.”

The series originated as a British crime drama but was dropped after two seasons by Channel 4. Rapper Drake and Netflix revived the series with a new season 1 release in 2019, and now the second season is finally available to stream. You can view the original series on Netflix under Top Boy: Summerhouse.

This crime drama follows Ra’Nell, who lives in the fictional crime-ridden estate of Summerhouse in Hackney, a London Borough. The series follows the tension between the gangs who push drugs and others who want to live an honest lifestyle.

The Principles of Pleasure (Season 1)

A brand new series to Netflix is The Principles of PleasureThis documentary explores women’s sexual pleasure.

This series interviews real women about their discovery of sex and how many women are taught that sex is “dirty.” It breaks down the myths about sex that keep women from being their best sexual selves. Narrated by Michelle Buteau, this three-part series should be viewed by all genders, as everyone can learn something from this show.

Call the Midwife (Season 10)

Season 5 of the period drama, Call the Midwife is now available to stream on Netflix. Season 9 was released two years ago, and fans have longed for the next one to release.

The series follows a group of midwives in London’s East Side reading from the 1950s through the 1960s. Adapted by Heidi Thomas from Jennifer Worth’s memoirs, it looks at midwifery beginning the 50s and beyond. The story follows Jenny, a newly qualified midwife, who joins a group of eccentric, lovable nuns at Nonnatus House. It continues as the midwives develop friendships and are drawn into the lives of the families they treat.

Fans can be sure this series will continue as it has been renewed through season 13 by the BBC.

Inventing Anna

If you have yet to watch the series about German “heiress” Anna Sorokin called Inventing Anna, you really need to do so. Sorokin came to the US as Anna Delvey and proceeded to con many of New York City’s elite.

Delvey is portrayed by Julia Garner, Ruth Langmore from Ozark, and her look and accent are nothing like fans of that series would expect. Garner does an amazing job portraying the fake heiress. Anna Chlumsky (My Girl, Veep) plays Vivian Kent, a fictionalized version of journalist Jessica Pressler who wrote about Delvey in real life. Both actresses do a fantastic job in this series.

The story is one of those hard to believe it happened kinds, and the series lays out everything allowing the viewer to come to their own conclusion about Delvey and her claim to be an heiress.
