Sex/Life season 2 has finally been released on Netflix after more than one year of waiting between seasons! Now fans can find out what’s next for Billie (Sarah Shahi) after that shocking cliffhanger at the end of the season 1 finale. Will Billie and Brad (Adam Demos) finally get back together? Will Billie find a way to make things work with Cooper (Mike Vogel)? Or will she meet a new man?

There is plenty of excitement and romance to come in the sophomore season, but one thing fans might miss about the show this time around are a couple of episodes. Sex/Life season 2 is two episodes shorter than season 1, running at just six episodes instead of eight.

Why did Netflix cut the episode count? Are more episodes on the way for Sex/Life season 2? Keep reading to find out!

Is Sex/Life season 2 split into parts?

There is a growing trend at Netflix now with shows being released into two parts, like Stranger Things season 4, Firefly Lane season 2, and You season 4. But that won’t be the case with Sex/Life season 2. All six episodes are launching on Thursday, March 2, 2023, and that’s all you can anticipate from the show’s second season. It might seem like a short amount, but rest assured it is the full season.

Are there only six episodes in Sex/Life season 2?

We learned that Sex/Life season 2 was probably going to be a bit shorter than season 1 a while ago when it was reported on the official Toronto business website. It’s not entirely clear why the episode count has been shortened.

Losing two full episodes is a pretty sizable change, albeit not unheard of, especially for a Netflix show. There’s no need to panic or anything as it might have been a decision made specifically by the writers and showrunner. If the season 2 story only needs six episodes from start to finish, then there’s no need to drag out the story for an additional two installments.

Also, as I previously suspected, the second season contains longer episodes than the first season, which will help make up for the smaller episode count. Most of the first season consisted of episodes running around 45 minutes, while season 2 episodes are usually 50 minutes or more, one even runs close to a full hour.

There are a lot of different factors that could contribute to why the episode count might be shorter this time around. Sex/Life was very successful during its first-season run on Netflix, so fans need not worry yet about it getting canceled. Let’s wait and see how the second season fares. Plus, fewer episodes just means you’ll have more time to rewatch Sex/Life season 2!
