Here’s some exciting news that I recently stumbled upon while browsing Netflix: the streaming service is dropping a new installment of Conversations with a Killer, this time focused on prolific serial killer John Wayne Gacy. The news is somewhat surprising since Netflix has not publicly announced the series is coming, nor was it included on their official April list released earlier this week.

However, you can see the upcoming true-crime documentary series listing if you go to their website. Here is the official link. Netflix says the new series will be released on April 20, 2022, and you can already set a reminder so the show will automatically appear on your list when it is released.

Here is the official logline, per Netflix:

"He dined with the powerful. He preyed on the vulnerable. Beneath a smiling exterior was the horrifying darkness of a sadistic serial killer."

Conversations with a Killer: John Wayne Gacy Tapes is a follow-up to the Ted Bundy docuseries

It looks like Joe Berlinger is behind the release of this new docuseries, which makes sense as Berlinger has produced several true crime docuseries for Netflix, including Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, the Crime Scene saga (Cecil Hotel and the Times Square Killer) and the Zac Efron-led Ted Bundy movie Extremely Wicked Shockingly Evil and Vile.

What is strange is that Netflix has not mentioned the Gacy series anywhere yet. If I hadn’t stumbled upon it, it probably would have been kept on the down-low until April. I don’t know if that was intentional or if perhaps the release date is a mistake, and it will be changed.

But for now, add it to your list and keep an eye out because April is shaping up to be an excellent month for true crime fans between the Gacy series, the Jimmy Savile docuseries, the Marilyn Monroe documentary and the Abercrombie & Fitch documentary.
