What is Transformers: BotBots about?

This Friday, Netflix is releasing a new animated Transformers series based on the popular Hasbro toy line. Botbots are small, colorful robot characters that transform into familiar everyday objects, and now they’re getting their own animated television show with Transformers: Botbots on Netflix.

After a blast of Energon hits a shopping mall, dozens of random objects are transformed. The newly-animated Botbots team up according to type in different sections of the mall, all except the “The Lost Bots,” a group of items-turned-robots stuck in the lost and found when the Energon blast struck. Now those toys and objects will have to find out where they fit in.

No casting details have been announced for the series yet, but we have all the information you’ll need to know to watch Transformers: Botbots on Netflix when season 1 premieres Friday, March 25.

This show will join Netflix’s currently streaming Transformers: War for Cybertron saga. Transformers: Botbots is produced by Hasbro Studios, Bardel Entertainment, Boat Rocker Studios and Entertainment One, with Netflix distributing.

Here is the official synopsis, courtesy of Netflix:

"BotBots are Transformer robots that disguise themselves as everyday mall objects. By day, these BotBots hide quietly on store shelves. But, at night, they jump into adventure until a group of BotBots called ‘The Lost Bots’ run into the mall security guard and put all the bots in danger. Will these misfits be able to overcome their differences, defeat the security guard and gain acceptance in the eyes of the other bots?"

Transformers: BotBots on Netflix episode count

There are ten episodes in total of the series. Considering it is an animated cartoon aimed at a younger audience, we can assume the episodes will only run from 20 to 25 minutes max.

The comedy series is rated TV-Y for some mild fear. The series is designed to be appropriate for all children.
