One of the best parts of the Shrek flicks was obviously Puss in Boots, voiced brilliantly by Antonio Banderas. The adorable, swashbuckling feline was so beloved by everyone that he would inevitably get his own feature in 2011 with an exciting follow-up Puss in Boots: The Last Wish set to hit theaters on September 23, 2022.

The sequel sees the return of Banderas voicing the titular cat, with Salma Hayek also back in the mix as Kitty Softpaws. It will also feature a slew of newcomers, including Florence Pugh as Goldilocks, as well as Olivia Colman, Wagner Moura, Ray Winstone, John Mulaney, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Harvey Guillén.

The trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish has reignited fans’ interest in the fan-favorite character from the Shrek franchise. But the big question that remains is, without a doubt, can Netflix subscribers enjoy the first movie before the next chapter arrives?

Fans of the heroic kitty should brace for the bad news that is about to hit them in full force. Puss in Boots is not one of the many excellent choices available on Netflix, and it doesn’t seem like there are really any immediate plans for that to change any time soon.

There is a series based on the Shrek character ready to stream now on Netflix called The Adventures of Puss in Boots. There are six seasons consisting of over 70 episodes, including a fun-filled interactive special.

As far as other exceptional animated features are concerned, Netflix has plenty of great options in this department. Some stellar, full-length cartoon features available now include Klaus, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, Vivo, The Willoughbys, Dragon Rider and Over the Moon, just to name a few.
