How Netflix saved Schitt’s Creek

Because there are so many shows on television these days, it’s easy for some to slip through the cracks. You might not realize you should be watching a show you might really enjoy because it’s on an obscure cable channel and not super accessible on a streaming service.

Thankfully, Schitt’s Creek was able to stick around its humble beginnings and get its feet on the ground before grabbing the attention of millions upon millions of fans on Netflix. Not many comedies are afforded the opportunity to hit their stride before truly breaking out.

While Netflix doesn’t get the bragging rights for Schitt’s Creek being an amazing, hilarious, and ground-breaking show, the streamer certainly can claim a small share of bringing a much larger audience to the Canadian hidden gem. By its fourth and fifth season, it was one of the biggest shows on TV.

Schitt’s Creek went on to sweep the Emmy Awards following its sixth and final season and become one of the most influential comedies of the moment. The series could have continued past six seasons and we would have been streaming, but keeping the series tight will help solidify its legacy. And fans won’t stop streaming the series anytime soon anyway.
