Does Netflix have any of the Batman movies in its lineup? Keep reading to find out where fans can see all of their favorite cinematic endeavors involving DC’s Dark Knight.

The infamous DC powerhouse has been a force to be reckoned with since the superhero was created in the year 1939 by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. The legendary vigilante would make his triumphant debut in the 27th issue of Detective Comics and would go on to continue to be successful within the world of comic books for over 80 years, garnering an enormous fanbase in the process.

But the colorful panels of DC comics would not be enough to contain the Dark Knight as the character eventually branched out into other forms of media. First, it was the small screen with the help of the outstanding Adam West in a live-action series and then with the Emmy-winning Batman: The Animated Series.

But it was when the world’s greatest detective made the jump to the big screen, the magnificent character’s legacy was solidified, and his status as a legend was undeniable. And now, inevitably, the release of The Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson has most assuredly reignited fans’ interest in watching the caped crusader’s many cinematic adventures once again.

How many Batman movies are there?

Figuring out how many movies feature Gotham’s heroic knight that are out there can be as complicated as solving one of The Riddler’s riddles. As far as big-budgeted live-action flicks meant for the silver screen that center on the character, there are seven that fit that criteria. Eight if you include The Batman starring Pattinson.

Tim Burton helmed two features where Michael Keaton played the titular role, 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns. Then Joel Schumacher took the reins with Val Kilmer performing the lead role in 1995’s Batman Forever and then George Clooney giving it a shot in 1997’s Batman & Robin.

The Dark Knight trilogy followed with 2005’s Batman Begins, 2008’s The Dark Knight, and 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, all directed by Christopher Nolan and starred Christian Bale as the caped crusader of justice. It is critical to point out that the character has been featured in several other iterations, including 2016’s Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman, and 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, where Academy Award winner Ben Affleck offered his take on the hero to audiences under directors Zack Snyder and David Ayer.

There are also several amazing animated features the caped crusader stars in, including Soul of the Dragon, Hush, and The Long Halloween Part 1 & 2, just to name a few. Out of the 47 cartoon-style movies released, over a dozen are headlined by the man in the cape and cowl.
