Now that we know Green Eggs and Ham season 2 is coming to a Netflix account near you, people have begun to wonder if there is more Dr. Seuss content on the streamer. More specifically, they want to know about the Dr. Seuss movies.
Dr. Seuss is easily one of the best children’s authors ever. His books are very helpful in teaching young kids how to read. They’re creative, showcase a unique brand of humor and consist of quirky characters. Most kids wouldn’t want to sit down and read. That’s just not fun. However, the qualities mentioned above about Dr. Seuss’s books keep kids entertained and make them want to learn. More importantly, the distinguished author’s work teaches valuable lessons.
So, when Dr. Seuss’s books were made into movies and shows, parents were happy to have more educational content to share with their kids. Netflix was the streaming home to many of Dr. Seuss’s content, but now that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Are there any Dr. Seuss movies on Netflix?
Unfortunately, there aren’t any Dr. Seuss movies on our favorite streamer at the moment. The 2003 live-action movie The Cat in the Hat and The Lorax was on Netflix but was removed in early January. The Grinch and How the Grinch Stole Christmas was also on Netflix in the past but was removed in December 2020.
It’s unclear if the Dr. Seuss movies listed above will ever make their way back to Netflix. However, never say never, right? If Netflix strikes up a new licensing deal, we could see the return of some of the kid classic films.
Where to watch Dr. Seuss movies
This is tricky because there isn’t a specific streaming home for all of the Dr. Seuss movies. The movies are scattered everywhere. However, Hulu has a good portion of Dr. Seuss’s movies. On Hulu, you’ll find Horton Hears a Who!, the 1972 version of The Lorax, the live-action The Cat in the Hat, the 1971 animated version of The Cat in the Hat and Dr. Seuss on the Loose.
HBO Max has only one Dr. Seuss film, and it’s the live-action How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Peacock has the 2012 version of The Lorax. Lastly, Disney+ has Horton Hears a Who!. In order to gain access to all these Dr. Seuss films on the streaming platforms listed above, you’ll have to have subscriptions.
