Dead to Me season 3 release rumors: Filming has wrapped on the final season

There’s bittersweet news to share with Dead to Me fans about the third and final season. After almost two years and a myriad of production setbacks, filming for Dead to Me season 3 has reportedly come to an end.

While that’s good news because it means we’ll be getting new episodes of Dead to Me sooner rather than later, it’s also a slight bummer because it means filming for the series has ended forever. It’s going to be tough saying goodbye to this show and cast.

Filming on Dead to Me season 3 finally started in May 2021 following pandemic-related delays and was expected to wrap in August 2021. However, production was temporarily paused last summer to allow star Christina Applegate time to prioritize her health.

Thankfully, Applegate appeared to be doing well and production resumed before the end of 2021, then picking back up after the holidays and a minor COVID outbreak amid multiple crew members. In February 2022, filming officially wrapped on season 3.

Dead to Me season 3 release update

Although Netflix released the first two seasons in May, the first in 2019 and second in 2020, Dead to Me season 3 missed its May release window in 2021. Could the final season drop in May 2022? While it’s totally possible, the season could also release a little later this summer.

Following the wrap of production, the season will go into post-production. However, since the season had been in production since mid-2021, it’s possible that most of the season has already gone through post-production. That could make a good case for season 3 premiering in May.

Let’s hope the cast and crew are putting the finishing touches on the final season early this spring and fans will get to watch the twists and turns of what’s sure to be a jaw-dropping conclusion to the incredible Emmy-nominated dark comedy. It’s been well worth the wait.
