Netflix shows that deserve a spin-off: You (Ellie)

Alright, hear me out. You is another popular television series on Netflix that I believe has the potential to go on for another two seasons or so, but I think the show could be missing out on something big. Feel free to disagree with me, but this is just my opinion.

Remember Ellie, the 15-year old girl from season 2 who Joe sends off to Florida for her own safety? I think she should have her own show. I absolutely loved the character and was disappointed to find out she wasn’t in season 3.

Ellie, in a way, was Joe’s voice of reason. Although Joe is a murderous psychopath, his paternal instincts click on when it comes to Ellie. He drives to be a better person when she’s around. But, for obvious reasons, Ellie couldn’t stick around and was sent away to Florida. Ellie might hate Joe for everything that happened, but Joe continues to send Ellie money to make sure she’s good financially.

Since Ellie is in Florida, I think a potential spin-off could show what she’s been up to while season 3 of You was happening. I mean, she’s a 15-year-old girl living in a new state by herself. How is she making ends meet? Joe is giving her money, but where is she staying? How could she find a place to live with no adult? What about her estranged mother? Isn’t she curious about where her daughter is? There are so many plot ideas for a potential spin-off.

I would like a spin-off, but it looks like there’s a chance that Ellie might return in You season 4. Jenna Ortega, who plays Ellie, spoke with Cosmopolitan and basically said she’s willing to come back if the creator wants her back. Showrunner Sera Gamble even said there’s a possibility that we can see Ellie’s return. So we might see Ellie in You before anything else. If she manages to survive in the psychological thriller, then the spin-off idea could be back on the table.
