The Tinder Swindler has to be one of Netflix’s wildest documentaries in recent years. The jaw-dropping true-crime story — from the producers of The Imposter and Don’t F**k with Cats — exposes fraudster Simon Leviev (real name Shimon Hayut) who used the dating app Tinder to lure and exploit unsuspecting women out of thousands of dollars.

The conman convinced women to fall in love with him and then asked them to lend him huge amounts of money to escape his “enemies,” in order to continue funding his lavish and expensive lifestyle while continuing to pretend to be a jet-setting, world traveling, “billionaire playboy.”

Simon Leviev might have been taking some tips from Anna Delvey (real name Sorokin) — the subject of Netflix’s other con series, Inventing Anna — because it now appears that the con artist may have sold his life story with the hopes of making big bucks on the big screen.

According to Variety, following The Tinder Swindler documentary’s success, Netflix is now “in talks with producers” about possibly dramatizing the popular documentary and turning it into a feature-length movie.  The publication’s sources claim that conversations about a movie are still in the “early stages,” with the “tone” of the potential flick still needing to be figured out before it is green-lit by the streamer.

Despite the documentary’s 90 minute-long run, one of the producers behind The Tinder Swindler, Felicity Morrisrevealed in an interview that “there’s more story” to tell, so a movie could definitely do that.

In the meantime, The Tinder Swindler documentary already has a follow-up in the form of a three-part podcast special titled The Making of a Swindler. The podcast sets out to dig “deeper into the life and methods of the infamous” Tinder Swindler, with each episode exposing more of Simon Leviev’s “lies and the people who actively – or unwittingly – supported him.”

You can catch the documentary on Netflix and the three-part podcast special within the feed of the popular documentary podcast You Can’t Make This Up.
