Full list of Netflix shows canceled (and renewed) in 2022

In 2021, Netflix made some difficult decisions about many of its original series, and it looks like 2022 won’t be any different for our favorite Netflix shows.

While a handful of fan-favorite Netflix shows like The Baby-Sitters Club and First Kill were unfortunately canceled, plenty of others were renewed. Some were even renewed for multiple seasons, like Vikings: Valhalla, Emily in Paris, and Heartstopper.

Netflix shows canceled and renewed

There’s great news for fans of Emily in Paris. The Emmy-nominated romantic comedy has been given the green light for TWO more seasons on Netflix! Emily in Paris season 3 and season 4 are confirmed, with (fingers crossed!) much more in the future.

What’s more, worldwide breakout newbie Heartstopper has already gotten the greenlight for seasons 2 and 3, while the fan-favorite romantic drama Sweet Magnolias will also be back for another round of small town stories. The year’s biggest new series, The Lincoln Lawyer, scored one of the fastest renewals in recent memory.

Unfortunately, Netflix has been handing out just as many cancellations to a few beloved series, with Latinx dramedy Gentefied becoming the first cancellation of the year after two seasons. Other series sadly cut short include Emily Osment sitcom Pretty Smart, Steve Carell’s comedy Space Force, and the supernatural fantasy teen drama First Kill.

Netflix still has yet to announce the fates of a number of recent releases, such as Uncoupled, and many more released this year. We expect some more renewals and cancellations to come down as more new series premiere in 2022.

While they haven’t been canceled, a handful of fan-favorite series will come to an end in 2022 with previously announced final seasons. Dead to Me, Ozark, and Grace and Frankie are the biggest Netflix originals bidding us farewell, with Locke & Key signing off, too.
