Hold on tight to something sturdy, because the new thriller set to hit Netflix will take you on a wild ride! The Weekend Away is a new edge-of-your-seat film that will be added to the Netflix catalog in March.
Fans of Gossip Girl will be excited to see that Leighton Meester has the starring role in this film. She portrays one of two best friends whose annual weekend getaway goes horribly wrong. This is her first role in a Netflix original film.
The Weekend Away is a psychological thriller based on the same-titled book by Sarah Alderson, who is known for her thrilling stories. Kim Farrant (Strangerland) directs the film written by Alderson with producers Ben Pugh, Charlie Morrison, and Erica Steinberg.
Starring with Meester are Luke Norris, Christina Wolfe, Ziad Bakri, and Amar Bukvic. Meester and Wolfe portray best friends, Beth and Kate, with Bakri as Zain and Bukvic as Pavic. According to IMDb, there is no character name released for Norris but from the trailer, you can see that he is Beth’s husband in the film.

Best friends Beth and Kate head off to their annual weekend getaway, this time heading to Croatia. With a great destination, a fabulous place to stay, and an itinerary of fun, there could be no better way to escape it all. And what better way to kick things off than with a glamorous night on the town?
Unfortunately, the evening ends in disaster. When Beth wakes up the following day, Kate is gone. She has little memory of what transpired throughout the evening. The trailer then explains that Kate was killed and the prime suspect is Beth.
