We have great news to share with you, Netflix Lifers. Production on Sex/Life season 2 has reportedly started, so we’re closer to seeing a brand new season on our screens.

Sex/Life premiered on Netflix on June 2021 and was an instant success, with 67 million households watching the show in its first four weeks since its release. Just three months later, Netflix announced the Netflix original series renewal, and fans were excited to find out that Billie and Brad’s steamy love story wasn’t quite over.

Now it’s been reported that production on season 2 has started and will be ending in the spring. A set production schedule has not been confirmed yet, but after consistently watching the cast and crew’s Instagram pages for new updates, this rumor just might ring true.

Here’s everything we know about the Sex/Life season 2 production schedule below.

When is Sex/Life season 2 filming?

According to What’s on Netflix, principal photography is slated to start on Feb. 7 and wrap on April 25. If production really began on Feb. 7, this means the show is on its second day of production as of Feb. 8. We had an inkling that production would start soon because the cast and crew kept teasing fans by dropping hints.

On Jan. 23, the show’s creator, Stacy Rukeyser, posted a photo of herself and her husband during their date night on Instagram, with a caption saying that she’s headed to Toronto in a week. Even though she didn’t say why she was going to Toronto, the reason was obvious. Sex/Life is filmed in Canada.

On Feb. 5, Rukeyser posted a photo of herself and two of the Sex/Life crew members in Toronto on her Instagram. Her caption confirmed that she was in Toronto for Sex/Life season 2, and fans were excited to find out the good news. We provide the caption down below:

"When I started in this biz, my agents would often call and say, “They’re looking for a woman.” Mostly because someone had realized they had hired all dudes and now… whoops! And many times, I was the only female writer on staff. We all still have a long way to go in terms of diversity and representation, but I’m proud to say we have so many women on @sexlife at all levels and in all departments. And there’s nothing I like more than taking a woman (or a man, frankly) who works their ass off, and helping them rise up and make it in this biz. Mike Vogel, who plays Cooper, posted a photo on his Instagram of him working out to get ready for season 2 on Jan. 25. Then, on Jan. 28, Adam Demos posted a production still of him from season 1 with a caption saying that it’s almost time for production to start on season 2.

Back in December 2021, the show’s leading star, Sarah Shahi, posted a photo of herself on Instagram with the Sex/Life season 2 script. Her caption read: “And the student prepares…
@sexlife S2…What are YOU most excited to see?”

As we mentioned earlier, a production schedule hasn’t been confirmed, but I think it’s safe to say that filming has started. Fingers crossed, we get to see some behind-the-scenes photos soon!

Sex/Life season 2 release updates

Since production has most likely started and is expected to wrap at the end of April, we’re most likely looking at a late 2022 release. Post-production will probably take about six months, so we could see the second season sometime in the fall or winter of 2022.

However, there’s still a chance that season 2 could come in early 2023. We don’t think Netflix will hold this drama series later than early 2023, though. For now, expect season 2 to arrive on Netflix by the end of 2022.
