6 romantic Netflix shows to watch (and 3 to skip) on Valentine’s Day 2022
Hooray! Valentine’s Day is almost here, and you know what that means. It’s time to start picking out the romantic Netflix shows you want to watch with your significant other.
You want to start making your list early, so there’s an easy flow from show to show. This might seem like a daunting task, but with the help from us at Netflix Life, you’ll have a pretty solid list.
Netflix has so much romantic content on its platform, and it was hard to narrow down our list. But the romantic Netflix shows that we’re about to share will definitely be worth the watch. We also made sure to include some shows you should skip this Valentine’s Day.
Romantic Netflix shows Valentine’s Day
Our list consists of a little bit of everything in the romance genre, from romantic dramas to romantic reality dating shows. If you need more romantic content to watch after you’re done with our recommendations, you can check out our list of the best romantic movies on Netflix. There are some fantastic movies on that list! Now to kick off this list is one of the best reality shows on Netflix, Love is Blind.
Love is Blind
Watch! Love is Blind should be the first show on this list that you watch because season 2 will be dropping on Feb. 11, and you want to be all caught up. It’s an unconventional reality dating show where a group of single men and women look for love and get engaged all before seeing each other face-to-face. Why not watch people look for love on Valentine’s Day? It’s an addictive show that you’ll quickly become obsessed with.
Bridgerton
Watch! You can’t have a list of romantic Netflix shows and not include Bridgerton. The romantic period drama has an incredible cast, pretty costumes, and a beautiful set design. Let’s not forget the gorgeous leads, Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page. Their chemistry is off the charts! You’re going to absolutely fall in love with this show. And there’s more to come soon. Bridgerton season 2 is coming on March 25!
Sexy Beasts
Skip! Dating shows might be good to watch on Valentine’s Day, but not shows like Sexy Beasts. The series is supposed to be about singles making connections based on personalities and not looks, but it seems more like a comedy sketch with paid actors. Nobody on the show actually wants to find love. If you’re looking for something fun to watch, go ahead and give Sexy Beasts a try. But if you’re looking for something of substance, move on to the other romantic Netflix shows on our list.
Never Have I Ever
Watch! Who doesn’t love a good love triangle? Never Have I Ever explores the love triangle between the protagonist Devi, her rival Ben, and her crush Paxton. While watching the series, you become just as troubled as Devi and can’t figure out if you’re “Team Ben” or “Team Paxton.” It’s a complicated situation, and we love to see it! You should watch Never Have I Ever not only for the love story but also for the show as a whole. It’s a very entertaining series.
Sex/Life
Skip! You’re probably wondering why we said skip Sex/Life. Yes, there’s a passionate love story between Billie and Brad, but the show is just too raunchy, in my opinion. The multiple R-rated scenes overshadow the love story, and it makes you think you’re watching an adult video. Honestly, it gets repetitive, and you start losing interest in the show. It’s okay if you still want to watch Sex/Life after our verdict. We just suggest saving it for another day besides Valentine’s Day.
Too Hot to Handle
Skip! On a regular day, I’d say watch the popular reality dating show Too Hot to Handle. But on Valentine’s Day, it’s a hard pass. The point of the series is for 10 lucky singles to meet and make meaningful connections while staying in a villa for a length of time. The twist is that the contestants can’t engage in any form of sexual contact (yes, that includes kissing). While some contestants walk away from the show in healthy relationships, most do not. In fact, most contestants had no problem with breaking the rules for their own pleasure. Don’t get me wrong. Too Hot to Handle is a very entertaining show. It’s just not a show that’s primarily focused on finding love. It’s more of a game show, and for that reason, we say SKIP.
Ginny and Georgia
Watch! Even though Ginny and Georgia is more of a comedy-drama series, there’s still plenty of time for romance in the show. In season 1, Ginny and Georgia find themselves in many romantic entanglements. Georgia is involved in a complicated love triangle and doesn’t know who she really wants to be with. While Ginny has the perfect boyfriend, she can’t seem to get over her feelings for her best friend’s brother. Once you start this show, you’re going to be hooked.
Virgin River
Watch! Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson. Need I say more? You have to watch Virgin River at some point in your binge session on Valentine’s Day because it’s heartfelt, well-written, and well-acted. You’re seriously going to enjoy watching the main characters Mel and Jack’s love story unfold on screen.
Emily in Paris
Watch! Last but certainly not least is the Emmy-nominated series Emily in Paris. Emily in Paris is the romantic comedy we need! The hit Netflix original series follows Emily Cooper, an American girl who moves to France after landing her dream job at a French marketing firm. We see Emily struggle to juggle work, friends, and romance in the show. But it’s Emily’s complicated love life that keeps you coming back for more. I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but just know that Emily deals with an army of French suitors. Oh, and there’s another love triangle. So, come on and join the Emily in Paris fan club and start streaming the show on Netflix!
