The Orbital Children is one of Netflix’s January 2022 closers, and we couldn’t think of any better way to end this month than with an extremely great sci-fi anime series.

The show, officially released on Netflix Jan. 28, is already catching the attention of the anime community with most of them hailing this new release for its well-written characters, beautiful design and animation, and, of course, for its intriguing plot that has them at the edge of their seats at all times.

You absolutely are going to want to get in on all this hype surrounding The Orbital Children, but before you tune in to watch, we want to tell you all about what to expect.

The Orbital Children synopsis

Set over 20 years in the future, The Orbital Children tells the story of five children, each with their own great hopes and dreams, lost in space following a scary disaster on their respective space stations.

Naturally, the kids fight to do everything in their power to stay alive and return to their respective homelands, but with increasing issues rising at every second, including an attack ship ordered to destroy 36.79% of Earth’s population, it quickly becomes clear that this mission will be much easier said than done.

Recognize a few voices in the trailer? Well, that’s because the cast of this animated series features tons of big names you certainly know and love. The Orbital Children voice cast features:

  • Mariya Ise as Nasa Houston
  • Yumiko Kobayashi as Hiroshi Tanegashima
  • Kensho Ono as Taiyou Tsukuba
  • Azumi Waki as Konoha Nanase
  • Chinatsu Akasaki as Miina Misasa

And last but certainly not least Great Pretender voice actress stars as Touya Sagami in this new title.
