Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher has started filming
By Renee Hansen
Great news for fans of Mike Flanagan! His newest series for Netflix, The Fall of the House of Usher, has started filming.
Viewers couldn’t get enough of his most recent series Midnight Mass and are patiently waiting for the next feature created by Flanagan and Trevor Macy, which will be the fifth series from the pair’s Intrepid banner.
The Fall of the House of Usher will be based on the work of the same title by Edgar Allan Poe. The original work was first published in 1839 and then again in 1840 when it was included in Tales of the Grotesque and Arabesque. This series will also draw inspiration from other pieces of Poe’s Gothic fiction.
When is The Fall of the House of Usher filming?
On Jan. 26, Kate Siegel took to social media to create a buzz about the new series. She posted the photo below, which shows a laminated sign for her co-star Rahul Kohli.
The series will see many returning cast members from other Flanagan productions. Siegel and Kohli recently worked on Midnight Mass. Other actors featured in Flanagan’s previous works will join them, including Carla Gugino, T’Nia Miller, Robert Longstreet, Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, Crystal Balint, Michael Trucco, Zach Gilford, Sauriyan Sapkota, and Carl Lumbly.
Also joining this cast will be Malcolm Goodwin with all-stars Mark Hamill, Mary McDonnell, and Frank Langella, who will play Roderick Usher, “the towering patriarch of the Usher Dynasty.”
It will be some time before we get a release date and a trailer for the series, but in the meantime, you can watch Flanagan’s other series on Netflix. Be sure to check out The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass.
Be on the lookout for The Midnight Club, expected in 2022. This will be based on a YA novel by Christopher Pike of the same title that tells of five teens who are in hospice for terminal illnesses. They make a pact that whoever dies first must return and try to contact the others.
