Is Lavania from The Royal Treatment a real place?
By Cody Schultz
In Netflix’s newest romantic comedy The Royal Treatment, salon owner Isabella gets the surprise of her life when her path crosses with a charming prince in town and in desperate need of a haircut.
Following their chance encounter, Isabella gets the opportunity of a lifetime when she and her fellow stylists are hired to do the hair for the royal wedding.
It doesn’t take long for sparks to fly between Isabella and Prince Thomas, who is about to marry for duty and not for love, and chances are you can likely piece together how this story might end.
While our story begins in New York City, the action soon goes international when viewers are whisked away to the country of Lavania which serves as the backdrop for most of the film. The country is home to Prince Thomas and the royal family of Lavania, but is the country a real nation or one created solely for the purpose of the film?
Is Lavania a real country?
If you’re hoping to book a ticket to Lavania to take in the picturesque country we have some bad news for you. Like many kingdoms that serve as backdrops to Netflix romantic movies, Lavania is a fictional country and is not a country you’ll find on a real map.
To help bring the country of Lavania to life, The Royal Treatment was filmed on location in New Zealand at various destinations including the Larnach Castle which was used to bring the royal family’s castle to life in the film.
The Royal Treatment is streaming now on Netflix.
