Tyler Perry is bringing his beloved character, Madea, back to our screens, and we can barely contain our excitement. A Madea Homecoming is coming to Netflix in February, and you’re not going to want to miss this upcoming release!

After Perry announced Madea’s retirement in 2019, we thought we’d never see the comical character again. But in 2021, Perry announced we’ll see the return of Madea in the 12th installment of the film franchise, A Madea Homecoming. Honestly, an iconic character like Madea could never truly stay in retirement.

Perry previously spoke with Variety and said that his reasoning for bringing Madea back is because after looking at the state of the world, he realized that people needed more joy and laughter in their lives. And, of course, Madea will provide just that.

Now in 2022, Netflix has announced the official release date, and we’re closer than you could possibly think!

A Madea Homecoming release date

The comedy film will arrive on Netflix on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time, which is 3:00 a.m. Eastern Time. For all the night owls, you’ll be able to stay up and watch this Netflix movie with no problem. But if you’re not used to staying up late, you might have a hard time.

No worries! If you cannot keep your eyes open and really need your eight hours of sleep, you can watch the film when you wake up. It’ll be waiting for you on your Netflix list. But since it’s a movie, I think you can manage to stay up for a couple of hours to watch the film and still get a good night’s rest.

A Madea Homecoming synopsis

Netflix provided the official synopsis, and it’s down below:

"Madea prepares to welcome her family who have all come into town to celebrate her great-grandson’s graduation from college, when some hidden secrets threaten to destroy the joyous family homecoming."

Tyler Perry directs, writes, and stars in A Madea Homecoming. The cast includes some familiar faces, and they will be reprising their roles from other Madea films in this movie. David Mann will play Mr. Brown, Tamela Mann as Cora, and Cassi Davis Patton as Aunt Bam. There will also be a guest appearance from Brendan O’Carroll, and he’ll be portraying Agnes Brown.

You can expect to be belly-laughing for days after watching this comedy film. Once the official trailer drops, we’ll make sure to share it. So stay tuned to Netflix Life for more news and coverage on A Madea Homecoming.
