Inventing Anna cast: Who is in the new Netflix show?

Inventing Anna, the upcoming Shonda Rhimes series for Netflix, is set to be a twisting tale with Ozark‘s Julia Garner at its center in the role of Anna Delvey.

The ten episode limited series is based on “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People,” an article by Jessica Pressler which detailed faux German heiress Anna Delvey’s exploits scamming and living the high life at the expense of the people who called her their friend.

Anna’s real surname is Sorokin, and she conned her way into New York’s upper echelon before she was eventually caught and put in jail.

Inventing Anna takes a look at how Anna crafted the persona that saw her jetsetting around the world, going to and throwing lavish parties, and wracking up debt in other people’s names.

The series also follows Vivian Kent, a journalist who’s taken an interest in Anna’s story. Vivian’s career has stalled. If she doesn’t find a story that grabs people’s attention and jump starts her flagging career then she could be saying goodbye to the field she loves.

Anna is the key to saving Vivian’s livelihood but the more she learns about the con artist, the more she begins to fall under Anna’s spell herself. The relationship they form as a journalist and her story subject is one that could make or break Vivian’s career and change how Vivian sees not only Anna but the crimes she’s committed.
