What is Archive 81 on Netflix about?

Archive 81 synopsis

Inspired by the popular podcast of the same name, Archive 81 depicts the life of a man who comes across videotapes full of a mysterious woman’s adventures in an even more mysterious apartment building.

What seemed to be an ordinary job turns into a nightmare as the strange creature that took the woman’s life in the past seems to have found a way back to him 25 years in the future. What is the source of this strange connection, and will he be able to crack the case? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

"Archive 81 follows archivist Dan Turner, who takes a job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994. Reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras, he is drawn into her investigation of a dangerous cult at the Visser apartment building. As the season unfolds across these two timelines, Dan slowly finds himself obsessed with uncovering what happened to Melody. When the two characters form a mysterious connection, Dan becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago."
