We’re fresh off Netflix announcing that Emily in Paris will be back for a third and fourth season, and the show’s newest cast member, Lucien Laviscount, has fans in a frenzy over if he will be reprising his role as Alfie in Emily in Paris season 3.

Fans were on an emotional high with the news of the renewal, but on Jan. 11, everything came crashing down with Lucien Laviscount‘s latest Instagram post. He obviously meant no harm by the post, but diehard fans, like myself, will dissect everything that is said because we love Emily in Paris and instantly fell in love with his character.

So what did Lucien Laviscount say about his involvement in Emily in Paris season 3? Brace yourselves. You might not like what was said…

Will Lucien Laviscount be in Emily in Paris season 3?

We hope so! Emily and Alfie ended up together in the season 2 finale and the future looked bright for their relationship, Well, at least in Alfie’s eyes. Emily is still stuck on Gabriel and in the last moments of season 2, she realizes that she loves him. She goes to confess her love only to find out Gabriel is back with his ex, Camille.

We’re not sure how things will pan out between Emily and Alfie in Emily in Paris season 3, but a discussion definitely needs to be had. We don’t want the same thing that happened to Mathieu to happen to Alfie. He doesn’t deserve that.

Since things ended on a seemingly high note for Emily and Alfie in the second season, we initially had no reason to think that Lucien Laviscount wouldn’t be in the third season. But after his Instagram post, we’re not so sure anymore.

Here’s Lucien’s post about Emily in Paris season 3 and 4 on his Instagram:

The caption reads:

"Emily In Paris SEASON 3 & SEASON 4. Can’t wait to see you all shine"

He also included some emojis and tagged the official Emily in Paris Instagram account and Netflix. I’m pretty sure this was supposed to be a celebratory post about the renewal, but his wording is questionable. Why did he say, “Can’t wait to see you all shine?” If he was going to be in seasons 3 and 4, wouldn’t he have said something like “Can’t wait to be back” or “Can’t wait to see us all shine” or just anything that includes him? His wording makes it seem like we won’t be seeing his character in future seasons.

Although nothing has been announced about Lucien’s departure from the series by Netflix or Emily in Paris‘s creator Darren Star, it makes you wonder if we should read between the lines. Or maybe we’re thinking too much into it, and Lucien was just giving his fellow cast members props. I guess we’ll know for sure when production for Emily in Paris season 3 starts.

Hopefully, we see the return of Alfie in season 3. His relationship with Emily was so entertaining to watch, and he seemed like a good match for her. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for more Emily in Paris season 3 news!
