The Witcher season 2 saw Geralt become a protector and father to Ciri. Would he have to sacrifice his life to save her at the end of the season?

Geralt of Rivia spent most of the season protecting Ciri. He was a father to her, helping her learn how to fight and protect herself. He also had his brothers to help him do the same thing, although he wasn’t too happy about that at first.

There were various threats against Ciri. One was someone he didn’t expect to be a threat: Yennefer.

At one point, Yen took Ciri on a journey to “save Geralt.” It was actually for Yen to get her powers back, and it didn’t take too long for Jaskier to get it into Geralt’s head that Yen was a threat.

Did Geralt sacrifice himself to save Ciri on The Witcher season 2?

Yen had a change of heart just as Geralt caught up with everyone. It was too late, though. The evil witch Voleth Meir escaped and possessed Ciri. While back with the other witches, Ciri went on a killing spree, taking out three witchers before Geralt stopped her.

It wasn’t Ciri, though. Young Ciri was trapped in a memory, while Geralt and Yen dealt with the evil witch. Geralt needed to protect Ciri from his family as the witch brought forward creatures to kill everyone. Yen had to make a potion, but would it be enough to save Ciri? Would Geralt need to sacrifice himself to save Ciri?

In the end, it was Yen who made a sacrifice. She offered herself up as the new vessel for Voleth Meir. This allowed Voleth Meir to get back to her own plane, something that Yen, Geralt, and Ciri all saw. When the three got back to Geralt’s home, Ciri was back to normal and everyone was able to go back to their own lives.

Geralt didn’t need to die in The Witcher season 2. However, he and Yen are not on the same page right now.
