Young & Hungry

Seasons: 5

Created By: David Holden

Starring: Emily Osment, Jonathan Sadowski, Aimee Carrero, Kym Whitley, Rex Lee

It’s a shame that certain shows go glossed over, like Freeform’s perennially underrated laugher Young & Hungry. Sure, it’s not a Seinfeld or a Modern Family, winning awards for its comedy or changing the game with its innovation. But for five hysterical seasons, the series kept us in stitches, and sometimes, that’s all we really need from the shows we watch.

Hannah Montana vet Emily Osment headlines Young & Hungry as struggling chef Gabi Diamond, who lands a cushy job as the personal chef of millionaire tech entrepreneur Josh Kaminski (Jonathan Sadowski). But when she sleeps with her new boss on her first day on the job, Gabi embarks on a dependably unpredictable but comical misadventure as part of Josh’s staff.

Young & Hungry received mixed reviews from critics, but come in close… We’re going to tell you the real tea here: It’s great. Yes, it’s a bit heavy-handed on some dated humor, but (and this is a big butt) the cast does so much of the heavy lifting, especially the absolutely dazzling Emily Osment, that they’re a pure joy to join for some hijinks. Don’t miss this one while it’s on Netflix.
