Best comedies on Netflix

Where do you go when you want to watch a funny show? Well, you can start with Netflix because there are plenty of funny shows on Netflix (31 to be exact) ready for your watch list.

No matter what kind of comedy you’re craving, Netflix offers quite an impressive selection of funny TV shows to keep the laughs flowing all year round. From stand-up specials to animated sitcoms to family shows to Netflix originals to romantic comedies, you’ll never go without a good pick-me-up.

Some of the funniest shows on Netflix, of course, are popular award-winners such as Schitt’s Creek, Big Mouth, Seinfeld, Emily in Paris, and so many others. But there’s also plenty of underrated picks like Pretty Smart, Happy Endings, and Julie and the Phantoms that are perfect for a dose of levity.

Find your next lineup of shows to marathon for a good laugh with our comprehensive list of just 31 of the funniest shows to watch on Netflix, beginning below with Arrested Development.

Arrested Development

Seasons: 5

Created By: Mitchell Hurwitz

Starring: Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, David Cross, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter

Although Arrested Development wasn’t always a Netflix original series, the fan-favorite comedy series went down a rocky road that ultimately led to the streaming giant. After three underrated yet Emmy-nominated seasons on Fox, the Jason Bateman-led laugher ended in 2006. But it’s triumphant return in 2013 ultimately lit the fuse for an era of reboots and revivals.

While the fourth season of Arrested Development, the first to debut under the Netflix fold, earned mixed reception for its separation of the hilarious cast, the fifth (and seemingly final) season seemed to course correct for a fitting farewell. The Bluth family’s many misadventures are among some of the funniest on Netflix, and it’s a funny and wild rise worth taking.
