Jennifer Lawrence and Timothée Chalamet age difference: How old are the Don’t Look Up stars?

Just in time for the holiday season is the reminder that climate change is real with Adam McKay’s new movie Don’t Look Up. The satirical film which serves an an allegory for the environmental crisis just hit Netflix in the early hours this morning, and is definitely a must-watch. Not only is the story good (and incredibly frustrating at times), but the cast is also absolutely star-studded. I couldn’t make up a bigger group of A-listers if I tried!

Included in the cast of Don’t Look Up is Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and Timothée Chalamet — all Academy Award winners or nominees. Even popular musicians Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi have brief appearances, as well as familiar faces Tyler Perry, Melanie Lynskey, Ron Perlman and more.

With a movie this full of big-name stars, the cast can be a little distracting. But one major distraction about Don’t Look Up comes in the second half, when Lawrence and Chalamet’s characters strike up a romance. Some fans are now shipping the two actors despite the fact that Lawrence is married (remember when she gushed over Chalamet being “so hot” in a 2019 interview?), while many are simply questioning their age gap.

Although Lawrence is an established actress who scored her first Academy Award nomination in 2010 and Chalamet looks on the younger side, their age gap isn’t drastic at all. At the time of this writing, Lawrence is 31 years old and Chalamet is 25 years old. However, Chalamet’s birthday is on Dec. 27, meaning he’s just days away from turning 26 years old. So there you have it — they’re five years apart.

In Don’t Look Up, Lawrence’s character Kate heads back to her hometown in Michigan after her plan to save the planet with Dr. Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) goes south. She’s understandably discouraged and has basically given up all hope. While working as a cashier at a grocery store, she meets Yule (Chalamet), who invites her to hang out with him and his friends.

In need of a distraction, Kate accepts the invitation and starts seeing Yule romantically. But of course, it’s the end of the world, so this pairing doesn’t mean much in the long run. They do have a kind of beautiful relationship, however, all things considered. They know they won’t survive for much longer and decide to just enjoy each other’s company.
