Outer Banks is the best Netflix show of 2021 (and here’s why)

Close your eyes and imagine the best Netflix show of 2021.

Is it intense? Does it feature incredible writing and performances? Is it a character-driven masterpiece?

Now, open your eyes. Which show are you picturing? Is it Squid Game, Sex Education, You, or Money Heist? Wrong. Shame on you. It’s Outer Banks. 

Outer Banks is the best Netflix show

Outer Banks season 2 premiered on Netflix in July 2021, and it was officially the Netflix show of the summer.

The Netflix original series also earned a spot on the FanSided Fandoms of the Year because the Outer Banks fans are AMAZING.

To me, Outer Banks is clearly the best Netflix show of 2021. There was no Netflix show more fun, exciting, and built for the streaming network than this one.

Did it help that we didn’t see most of the Netflix heavy-hitters like The Crown, Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and Ozark in 2021? Probably, but that’s neither here nor there.

Why is Outer Banks the best Netflix show of 2021? I have my reasons listed below.

1. Treasure hunting makes every show better

Off the top, if a show has treasure hunting and a quest, it gets bonus points. If there’s a heist involved, the show is on another level. Outer Banks has treasure hunting and heists!

2. Outer Banks brings all of the drama

If you like drama, you probably love Outer Banks. While all shows are dramatic, Outer Banks has nearly killed off every major character multiple times. Every scene, every episode raises the stakes higher and higher and higher. I can’t wait to see what they have planned for season 3.

3. The Outer Banks cast is phenomenal

Outer Banks has one of the best young casts around. There are so many talented actors and actresses in this cast. And, I think when we look back at this show in a decade, we’ll think of this show as the one that launched the careers of many of these young cast members who will go on to even bigger productions.

4. Outer Banks is big fun

I understand this show isn’t for everyone, but you can’t deny how much fun this show is. At every turn, the most ridiculous thing happens. Nothing is off the table. No character stays dead. It’s exactly what I want in a Netflix binge.

5. Outer Banks is the perfect binge-watch

There are shows that are great that need space between episodes. They are too much to take in.

As I mentioned earlier, Outer Banks is built for a Netflix binge, and that’s what makes it so fun. Each episode is expertly crafted to make viewers stick around for that next episode. And, when the season ends, Outer Banks fans want/need more!

To me, that’s the perfect binge-watch.
