We’re nearing the end of 2021, so many of us are starting to look back at all the movies that were released on Netflix this year. While we think some Netflix films should’ve never been made, others were just so entertaining, and we’re hoping for sequels. So to help you pick out something to watch, we’ll share with you the five best comedies on Netflix in 2021.

We saw a good amount of comedies released this year, and most of them we would consider a must-watch. We still have the highly anticipated comedy film, Don’t Look Up, slated to come to the streamer at the end of December, but we already have our list of the best comedies on Netflix in 2021.

Read on to find out what comedy films you should be watching on Netflix right now. We believe at least one movie on our list should be of interest to you.

Best comedies on Netflix in 2021

Red Notice

You just had to know Red Notice would be the first comedy film on our list. Although this movie is considered an action comedy film, there were so many scenes in the film that were downright hilarious to watch. I guess this was expected with one of the leading stars being Ryan Reynolds. The other main cast members include Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.

Red Notice was the most-watched film in its debut weekend on Netflix, and it comes as no surprise because of the star-studded cast and intriguing plot. It’s about an FBI agent who teams up with a renowned art thief to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted art thief.

This film had a ridiculously high budget of $200 million dollars. While I think this movie was enjoyable to watch, I don’t think this movie should’ve cost this much to make. Nonetheless, we recommend checking out this film if you haven’t already. Red Notice dropped on Netflix on Nov. 12, and people are still talking about it.

Yes Day

On March 12, Yes Day was released on the streamer, and parents all over had a good movie to watch with their kids during spring break. This film stars Jennifer Garner, Édgar Ramírez, Jenna Ortega, Julian Lerner, Megan Stott, Graham Phillips, Everly Carganilla, Nat Faxon, and many more supporting actors.

A week after the film’s release, Netflix reported that 53 million households watched the movie. Then in April 2021, the viewership numbers increased to 62 million households. You need to add to this number and watch this movie if you haven’t already. It’s really funny! It was based on a children’s book of the same name by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld. Justin Malen wrote the script with Miguel Arteta as director of the movie.

It’s about a mom and dad who are used to telling their kids no when they request something. After an incident at school, the parents decide to give their kids a day to ask them anything they want, and they’ll say yes and grant their requests. Of course, if you give kids an inch, they will take a mile. Some of the requests are bizarre, but watching the parents try their best to go through with each request was funny.

Fortunately, Yes Day 2 is in the works. So get ready to see more of the Torres family on your screens in the future!

Love Hard

Another comedy film that you should watch is Love Hard. This movie made its way to the streamer on Nov. 5 and quickly shot its way to the top of Netflix top 10 list. Not only is this film one of the best comedies on Netflix in 2021, but it’s also one of the best romantic Christmas movies on Netflix in 2021.

It’s a romantic comedy film starring Nina Dobrev, Jimmy O. Yang, Darren Barnet, Harry Shum Jr., James Saito, Rebecca Staab, Mikaela Hoover, and many others. It’s about a young journalist named Natalie who travels across the country to surprise and meet her online crush for Christmas. However, when she arrives at his house, she finds out that she’s been catfished.

Be sure to add this Netflix movie to your must-watch list. I promise you won’t regret it!

The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star

We got to see Vanessa Hudgens step back into her many roles in The Princess Switch 3, and we were curious to know if she would play more characters in the third installment. We won’t spoil it for you, so we suggest you click play on The Princess Switch 3′s title page. This film was just as good as the first two. Fingers crossed, we get to see The Princess Switch 4 in the future!

This movie is listed as a romantic comedy film but has many funny moments in the movie that we’ll have you belly laughing. In this third movie, Princess Stacy and Lady Margaret are getting ready to host an international Christmas festival in Montenaro, but a priceless Christmas relic goes missing when thieves break into the palace and steal it. The royal lookalikes end up turning to Lady Fiona and her ex for help in retrieving the Star of Peace.

The Princess Switch 3 is the perfect movie to watch on Christmas Eve with your loved ones. However, you might want to watch this film on Dec. 23 because Don’t Look Up comes out on Dec. 24, and you want to have all your attention on the dark comedy movie.

Bad Trip

I honestly forgot about this raunchy film because it came out at the beginning of 2021, but it’s also a comedy movie we recommend you watch by the end of the year. It’s written by Dan Curry, Eric André and Kitao Sakura and directed by Kitao Sakurai.

Bad Trip follows two best friends (Chris and Bud) who take a road trip from Florida to New York City so that Chris can reunite and declare his love for his high school crush. But while on their journey, they’re chased by Bud’s criminal sister because they stole her car. If the plot wasn’t enticing enough, once you find out who’s a part of the Bad Trip cast, you’re going to want to watch this film.

Eric Andre, Lil Rel Howery, Tiffany Haddish, and Michaela Conlin star in this hidden camera comedy film, and it’s definitely one of the best comedies on Netflix this year!
