The biographical comedy-drama is directed and written by Adam McKay, with Charles Randolph also penning the screenplay for the critically acclaimed motion picture based on the 2010 book written by author Michael Lewis appropriately titled The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine. The entire endeavor shows how a group of investors bet against the US mortgage market back in 2006 and 2007 after realizing how the market is extremely corrupt and flawed.

The only thing more exciting than the intriguing premise is the cast full of big names, including Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, John Magaro, Finn Wittrock, Hamish Linklater, Rafe Spell, Jeremy Strong, and Marisa Tomei. Their solid performances and effort earned significant honors, including the National Board of Review Award for Best Ensemble.

In addition, the movie also won the Academy Award, BAFTA Award, and Writers Guild fo America Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and won several accolades for its brilliant edit done magnificently by Hank Corwin.
