It’s been a great year for new Netflix movies in 2021. We’ve seen of the best Netflix movies of all time recently throughout the year, and we bet you haven’t had time to watch them all.

As the year winds down, it’s time to start watching all those good Netflix movies you missed this year. And, to help you find what to watch on Netflix, we shared a list of awesome Netflix movies.

Most of these movies are not the most popular Netflix movies, like Red Notice. We tried to switch it up and give readers a list of hits, deep cuts, and just overall entertaining movies.

Best Netflix movies in 2021

Let’s get the list of Netflix movies started with Army of Thieves, easily one of the best Netflix movies of the year.

Army of Thieves

Army of Thieves is the prequel to Army of the Dead, the zombie heist movie. There aren’t many zombies in this one, but there are several great heists. You’re going to love Matthias Schweighöfer, who plays Ludwig Dieter, and Nathalie Emmanuel, who plays Gwendoline, in the movie.

Fear Street movies

  • Fear Street Part 1: 1994
  • Fear Street Part 2: 1978
  • Fear Street Part 3: 1666

The Fear Street movies are based on the works of R.L. Stine. Netflix released all three horror movies in consecutive weeks this summer, and it was awesome! If you like horror and slasher movies, you have to watch these Netflix movies set in Shadyside. The story connects over three decades and pays homage to some of your favorite horror movies of all time.

The Mitchells vs. The Machines

The Mitchells vs. The Machines might just be the best Netflix movie of 2021. It’s an animated movie produced by Christopher Miller and Phil Lord and tells the story of the Mitchells, a family on a cross country road trip who must save the world when Silicon Valley-created robots try to take over.

I LOVED this Netflix movie.

Gunpowder Milkshake

Speaking of Netflix movies I loved, Gunpowder Milkshakes is my favorite pure action movie of 2021. It tells the story of an assassin who enlists the help of her mother and a secret society of assassins to get out of a jam and survive. Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, Carla Gugino, Chloe Coleman, Michelle Yeoh, Angela Bassett, and Paul Giamatti star in the Netflix movie.

The Harder They Fall

If you love Westerns, The Harder They Fall is the movie for you on Netflix. Nat Love (Jonathan Majors) seeks revenge on the man who killed his parents when he was younger. This movie has an incredible cast with Majors, Regina King, Idris Elba, Zazie Beetz, Delroy Lindo, Lakeith Stanfield, RJ Cyler, Danielle Deadwyler, Edi Gathegi, and Deon Cole.

Army of the Dead

Army of the Dead directed by Zack Snyder follows a group hired to break into a safe in Las Vegas, but it’s overrun by zombies. This movie kicked off what will likely be Netflix’s biggest franchise yet.

If you like zombie movies, heist movies, or both, this is the movie for you! Army of the Dead 2, aka Planet of the Dead, is also in the works on Netflix right now.

To All The Boys: Always and Forever

The final movie of the To All The Boys trilogy premiered on Netflix in 2021. You have to see how this all ends for Lara Jean, played by Lana Condor, and Peter, played by Noah Centineo.

Netflix ordered a To All The Boys spinoff series about Kitty, and it’s called XO, Kitty. It’s coming to Netflix soon!

Passing

Passing is one of the best Netflix movies of the year. It stars Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga. Watch for this movie come Oscar season!

Love Hard

Love Hard is the perfect Netflix Christmas movie. It stars Nina Dobrev as Natalie, a relationship columnist who gets catfished for Christmas, but she sticks around to try to make it work with another guy. Things do not go as planned.

I really, really liked Love Hard. If you need a romantic Christmas movie, this is the pick.

Moxie

Moxie is one of the best teen movies of the year. It’s based on the book of the same name by Jennifer Mathieu and is directed by Amy Poehler. Yeah, it’s a must-watch.

Skater Girl

Skater Girl is probably the best Netflix movie on the list that you’ve never heard of. It’s set in India, and it follows Prerna, played by Rachel Sanchita Gupta, who is introduced to skateboarding and falls in love.

This movie is so good, guys. Check it out!

Bruised

Halle Berry directs and stars in Bruised, a new Netflix movie about a former UFC fighter who attempts an unsanctioned comeback.

Netflix, now, has a multi-movie deal with Berry moving forward. This is a really promising partnership to watch.

Tick, Tick… Boom

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial, Tick, Tick… Boom, is based on Jonathan Larson’s musical of the same name. In the movie, Andrew Garfield stars as Jonathan, an aspiring theater composer trying to make it.

Mixtape

Mixtape was just added to Netflix in December 2021, and it tells the story of a girl who is trying to track down all the songs from the mixtape that her parents had made prior to their deaths. Julie Bowen and Gemma Brooke Allen star in the Netflix movie.

Space Sweepers

If you like fun sci-fi movies, Space Sweepers is the movie for you. The Korean movie follows a group of — you guessed it! — space sweepers who get caught up in something way above their paygrade.

The White Tiger

The White Tiger stars Adarsh Gourav, Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, and Rajkummar Rao. The Oscar-nominated Netflix movie tells the story of Balram trying to survive. This is easlily one of the most underrated Netflix movies of the year.

Sweet Girl

Sweet Girl is a Jason Momoa-led revenge tale. Need I say more? Isabela Merced also stars in the Netflix movie.

If you like big-time action movies, Sweet Girl is the movie for you on Netflix.

If none of these movies sound good to you, consider that there might be something wrong with you (JK!) and check out list of the best Netflix movies to watch right now.
