Shadow and Bone season 2 cast rumors: Will an Outer Banks star be in the new season?

Shadow and Bone season 2 is officially in the works on Netflix, and fans who have read Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse books know there are some major roles that have yet to be cast or officially announced.

But, that’s not stopping the Shadow and Bone fans from speculating who could be the season 2 cast. The rumor mill is starting to heat up about an Outer Banks star joining the cast of Shadow and Bone season 2.

According to What’s on Netflix, it looks like production on Shadow and Bone season 2 is starting production in January 2022. So, we should find out soon if the casting rumors for the Netflix original series are true.

Will Outer Banks star Drew Starkey be in Shadow and Bone season 2?

The latest rumor is that Outer Banks star Drew Starkey will be playing Nikolai Lantsov in the new season of Shadow and Bone. The rumors have not been confirmed.

It’s hard to say where the Drew Starkey rumors started, but there was a tweet a while back linking to a Collider link that does not work that claimed Starkey had been cast as Nikolai Lantsov.

That looks to be where the speculation started, but it’s taken on a life of its own since.

Starkey dyed his hair very blonde. Nikolai is also blonde in the books. We can all put two and two together.

Now, in December 2021, Starkey and Archie Renaux, who stars as Mal in Shadow and Bone, posted Instagram stories of each other having dinner together. Coincidence? You do the math.

That appears to be all that is out there right now about Starkey joining the cast of Shadow and Bone. We’ll have to wait for confirmation.

Interestingly, there are rumors that Outer Banks season 3 is starting production in January 2022. We assume that Starkey would be involved with the new season of the Netflix original series and not hop from Netflix show to Netflix show.

Outer Banks season 3 has not been confirmed yet, which kind of throws a wrench in the mix when we’re trying to figure out this rumor. Obviously, Starkey could, in theory, go back and forth between the production, but we know Outer Banks season 3 will likely be filmed in South Carolina and the Caribbean while Shadow and Bone is filmed in Hungary. That’s not exactly right next door or anything like that.
