We’re reaching the end of the year, and it’s officially time to pick which movies were the best Netflix original movies of 2021. There were so many great movies that came out in 2021, but we want to share with you the best Netflix movies we think really outshined the rest.

We’re not quite done with 2021 just yet. We still have a great selection of highly anticipated Netflix movies coming out in November and December, such as The Power of the Dog, The Unforgivable, Don’t Look Up and The Lost Daughter.

However, we already have our list of the 5 best Netflix original movies of 2021, and we’re about to tell you what movies you should add to your must-watch list immediately. Let’s close the year out with a bang!

We will be starting our list off with the teen slasher film Fear Street Part Two: 1978.

The Fear Street trilogy is composed of three of the best horror movies of 2021! But the second installment Fear Street Part Two: 1978, is arguably the best movie out of the three films.

The second film travels back in time to 1978 at Camp Nightwing in the cursed town of Shadyside. Hoping for a summer of fun, the young kids of Shadyside are sadly mistaken when a masked killer goes on a murder spree. This, of course, all ties back to the Shadyside curse that originated in the 17th century. We learn more about the origins of the curse in the third film Fear Street Part Three: 1666.

Don’t get me wrong, the first film was really good, but what I really enjoyed about the second film is that it reminded me more of a slasher film. There was more tension and excitement. I was at the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie. The killings in the film were so sudden and frequent that adrenaline was flying through me.

Even some character deaths had me scrunching up my face in disgust because of how horrible they were. Fear Street Part Two:1978 didn’t shy away from gore. If anything, the horror movie was like the more gore, the better. I had sweaty palms and a racing pulse as soon as the killings began. In my opinion, this is how you should feel while watching a good slasher film.

There hasn’t been an announcement from Netflix on if there will be a Fear Street Part 4, so that’s a real bummer. However, I’m managing to keep the hope alive. Hopefully, we get a fourth movie, and if we do, we’ll be sure to let you know!

So if you haven’t watched Fear Street Part Two: 1978, you’re missing out. I encourage you to give this teen slasher a chance. It’s one of the best Netflix original movies of the year.
