Netflix will soon release a new South Korean fantasy series. With the success of Squid Game and My Name, it is no wonder the streamer would be ready to release another series from South Korea. Hellbound is a supernatural thriller series that will be released only on Netflix on Nov. 19.

The series directed by Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) is based on his webtoon titled Hell or 지옥 in Korean. Illustrator Choi Kyu-Seok (Songgot) came alongside Sang-ho to transform the webtoon into the series for Netflix. Hellbound premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, making it the first Korean drama to be featured at the festival.

The cast consists of Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min and Won Jin-ah, Yang Ik-june, all well-known South Korean actors.

The series will consist of six episodes with a runtime of approximately 50 minutes, perfect for a quick binge-watch. There has been no announcement of a second season, but if this proves as successful as the series mentioned above, you can expect a second season at some point.

What is Hellbound about?

The series Hellbound shows supernatural beings who appear out of thin air to carry people to hell. The setting is a fantasy version of Earth, and residents of South Korea are told the date and time of their death. At this time an entity that some believe is an angel will usher the person to hell.

The trailer below shows giant demonic beings beating the soul out of someone, then they proceed to drag the said soul to hell. All that remains is a charred shell of a body that used to be a person. This looks like it is going to be an outstanding series.
