Red Notice 2 and 3 are officially happening on Netflix. It’s been a while since we heard any new information about the movies, so we wanted to give fans the most up-to-date information about the new Netflix movie franchise.

Red Notice premiered on Netflix on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021. Fans have been waiting years to watch the new Netflix movie starring Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, and Ryan Reynolds.

Luckily, Red Notice doesn’t disappoint! There’s so much to like about the new action movie that reportedly cost more than $200 million to make, making it Netflix’s most expensive movie to date. Red Notice is one of the best Netflix movies of the year.

We shared everything we know about Red Notice 2. We’ll continue to update as we learn more about the upcoming Netflix movie. The latest update was published on July 20, 2023.

When is Red Notice 2 filming?

Red Notice 2 has not been filmed, but Gadot confirmed to Collider that the script is finished. She also mentioned that she just finished reading the script.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Red Notice 2 is going to be filming all that soon. As of July 2023, the WGA and SAG are on strike, which has brought production to a screeching halt. Once those strikes end and the AMPTP offers the WGA and SAG the deals they are looking for, Red Notice 2 production would be able to happen.

Will it happen, though? That’s the big question. The longer the strikes go on, the higher the chances that we’ll see scheduling difficulties. We already know, which is also mentioned in the Collider piece, that Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 were going to film back to back. Is there a time period for Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot can film two movies at the same time? That’s the really tricky part.

Has Netflix announced the Red Notice 2 release date yet?

Not yet! Netflix has not confirmed the Red Notice 2 release date. We’re still not sure what year the movie will arrive on the streaming service. As mentioned, these are three of the most in-demand movie stars in the industry right now, and they have very busy schedules.

We know that Red Notice 2 is not coming to Netflix in 2023. That’s absolutely not happening. Netflix shared the list of new movies coming later this year during its upfronts presentation.

It doesn’t look like Red Notice 2 has started filming yet, as of May 2023, although the scripts for Red Notice 2 and 3 were finished in 2022, according to Collider. There were rumors production was supposed to start in early 2023, and the movies would be filmed back to back.

We already mentioned what’s going on with production, but it’s clear that we’re going to be waiting at least 18 months from now until Red Notice 2 is available. If the strikes don’t end soon, we’re going to have to update our release prediction to late 2025 for Red Notice 2.

As of right now, we’re not expecting to see Red Notice 2 on Netflix until late 2024 and potentially 2025. There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes that could affect production on Red Notice 2 and 3 with the WGA and SAG on strike in the summer of 2023.

Red Notice 2 and 3 are happening on Netflix

According to a report from Deadline, Red Notice 2 and Red Notice 3 are officially in the works at Netflix. The streaming network has not commented on the news, but it seems like the process is pretty far along.

The report mentions production is being eyed to start sometime in 2023. Both movies are going to be filmed back to back, as director and writer Rawson Marshall Thurber mentioned in 2021.

Obviously, scheduling is going to be an issue. Reynolds, Johnson, and Gadot are three of the biggest stars in the world and they each have tons of projects in the works, along with business ventures.

It sounds like everything is going well so far, so that’s a very good sign.

Red Notice ending explained

Red Notice ends in a very interesting place for Red Notice 2. In fact, it basically sets up the sequel.

After Booth, Hartley, and The Bishop secure Cleopatra’s egg from the secret Nazi stash in Argentina, it’s revealed that Hartley and The Bishop aka Sarah are actually together! They’ve been working Booth the whole time to find the third egg, which they steal from him and turn into $300 million from the Egyptian billionaire.

This story doesn’t end there.

Booth contacts Interpol and gives them the secret bank account of The Bishop. Interpol intervenes and takes all of the money.

Booth, then, joins his two favorite people on their boat and reveals he has a new mission for them, but they have to team up to make it happen.

In the last scene, we see Booth, Hartley, and Sarah walking toward the Louvre. Art heist incoming!

We know Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot have to return for the sequel. We also have to assume that Ritu Arya and Chris Diamantopoulos will also be back for Red Notice 2.
