A Man in Full arrives on Netflix in May 2024: Everything to know about the limited series

Regina King blazed a trail on Netflix as outlaw Trudy Smith in the western The Harder They Fall. A new Netflix project fans of King can look forward to is A Man in Full, a joint production with David E. Kelley, who serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the upcoming limited series.

King serves as a director and an executive producer. Sadly, she will not be in front of the camera for this project. Instead, she works behind the scenes. She partnered with her sister, Reina King, through their Royal Ties production company, which has a first-look deal with the streamer. Reina joins her sister as an executive producer on this series. In addition, Matthew Tinker signed on to executive produce as well.

A Man in Full consists of six one-hour episodes, with King having directed three episodes of the show and Thomas Schlamme directing the rest. When asked about her collaboration with Kelley, King told Variety:

"All I can say is when David E. Kelley calls, you just say yes. I know this partnership will produce something special."

A Man in Full release date

Drum roll, please! A Man in Full is slated to make its way to Netflix on Thursday, May 2, 2024. You can expect the entire six-episode series to drop on this date at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET. But if you're in the Central time zone, you're looking at a release time of 2:00 a.m. CT on May 2.

The show is rated TV-MA, so it's not meant for young kids to watch. It's specifically designed to be watched by mature, adult audiences only. It was given this maturity rating for strong language, nudity, and sex. Obviously, this isn't appropriate content for kids, so we recommend watching this series when they're not around.

Is the Netflix show based on a book?

Yes! The limited series is based on The New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Tom Wolfe, which was first published in 1998. The late best-selling author’s work often incorporated social commentary.

Given the premise of A Man in Full which focuses on a tycoon’s fall from grace thanks to bankruptcy, the series is likely to cover the decadence and rot of the business world and the men who believe they make the world go around.

Back in August 2022, Deadline reported that the cast had been announced for the series! Emmy Award-winning actor Jeff Daniels stars in the leading role of real estate mogul Charlie Croker, with Academy nominee Diane Lane playing the role of Charlie's ex-wife, Martha Croker.

• Harper plays Wes Jordan, the incumbent mayor of Atlanta who’s up for re-election.
• Pelphrey plays Raymond Peepgrass. Subordinated, libidinous and frustrated, he is an oppressed and lowly loan officer on the verge of personal and professional chaos.
• Ameen plays Roger White, an attorney for Croker Industries.
• Jones plays Serena Croker, Charlie’s second wife.
• Hill plays Conrad Hensley, a humble, hardworking employee of Croker Industries.
• Adams plays Jill Hensley. Jill works as Charlie’s beloved executive assistant and she’s married to Conrad.
