Happy Stranger Things Day! Today marks the fictional anniversary of Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) disappearance and abduction to the Upside Down on Nov. 6, 1983, and Netflix is not playing around in giving us new content to commemorate.

We just got a new teaser trailer that is so chaotic and eventful, I’m still not over it and probably won’t be for months. The tease debuts the new home of the Byers and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), as the family relocated in the final episode of Stranger Things season 3. The crew has moved to California, which is very far away from Hawkins, Indiana.

Understandably, Eleven is counting down the days until she can see Mike (Finn Wolfhard) again.

The teaser trailer gives us sweet moments and some frightening ones, as we see Eleven trying to get settled into her new school and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) being shot at. There’s even a huge explosion at the end, which poses so many questions!

And speaking of questions, many have been wondering when Stranger Things season 4 would take place, especially considering it’s been over two years since the last installment was released. It’s hard to ignore how much older the kids have gotten, and so should we expect a time jump?

Is there a time jump in Stranger Things season 4?

We’ve all been speculating this could be a possibility, but the new teaser trailer has confirmed there isn’t a time jump. At least, not a significant one. In Eleven’s narration while she’s writing a letter to Mike, she says it’s day 185 — presumably since the last time she saw Mike. That means it’s been less than a year since Stranger Things season 3.

Given we know that it’s been less than a year since the last season, which took place in 1985, and given the new episodes will take place during Spring Break, we can make the assumption that Stranger Things season 4 is set in spring 1986!

It might not be the time jump we were expecting, but we’re inching closer to the ’90s!

This new teaser is absolutely awesome and I cannot wait to see more from Stranger Things season 4. We don’t have a release date yet, but of course, fans are now speculating it could come out in the spring. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on everything we hear!
