Spoilers for Locke and Key season 2 below!

Locke and Key season 2 spoilers

Locke and Key season 2 revolves around Gabe, aka Dodge, and the quest to make a magical key that turns regular humans into demons. Luckily, Bode and Kinsey realize that Gabe is Dodge. They accidentally threw Ellie into the portal at the end of the first season. Whoops!

Erin tries to kill Gabe and take Dodge back to the Wellhouse, but Gabe and Eden kill Erin.

After fighting off Kinsey, Bode, Tyler and Scot, Gabe and forces Duncan to make the key, and it works. Gabe uses it to turn many people, including Jackie, into Demons.

Tyler finds Rendell’s emergency piece of Whispering Iron and makes a key that can kill the demon inside of people and make them human again. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work exactly right. It kills the demon, but it also kills the human that the demon has attached to. After using the key on Jackie, she dies.

Kinsey and Scot are led to the Angel Key by Sam, who is trying very hard to help the Lockes after killing Rendell. It sets up an epic finale!

Locke and Key season 2 ending explained

The Locke and Key season 2 ending is really good. We close the book on one part of the story and move on to the next chapter.

In the finale, which is titled “Cliffhanger,” Kinsey pays a visit to the cliffside mansion where Gabe and his demons are hanging out. Kinsey pretends to jump off the cliff rather than join Gabe’s army, but she turns the Angel Key on the way down, and we see her fly!

It’s all been one big distraction anyway. Duncan, Scot, and Tyler go down the elevator and into the safe and steal the demon key. There’s an epic battle with all the human-demons vs. Scot, Duncan and Tyler and Kinsey vs. Gabe/Dodge.

The Lockes and Scot come out of this one victorious. As the cliffside mansion collapses into the sea, Tyler stabs Gabe/Dodge with the Alpha Key, which kills the demon and frees Lucas. Because Dodge is an echo, the demon is killed and Lucas remains alive, which is different than what happened with Jackie.

When the Lockes and Scot plus Lucas return to Keyhouse, they find Ellie, who looks just like Dodge, with Bode. Ellie climbs out of the portal after it was left open by Eden, Gabe, and Josh.

They use the Identity Key to make Ellie look like Ellie again. She reunites with Rufus.

At the very end of the season, two crazy things happen. First, Tyler goes on a trip for his 18th birthday and decides that he doesn’t want to remember the keys when he gets back. He’s obviously still reeling from Jackie’s death.

I think we all know Tyler will eventually use the Memory Key in Locke and Key season 3, but it’s still sad!

Bode also takes his mom on a trip through her head using the Head Key. She sees the memory of her telling Rendell that she was pregnant with Bode. It’s a very touching scene, and at the end, she says that she doesn’t want to forget it. It’s implied that Bode is going to use the Memory Key on Nina and reveal all the secrets of Keyhouse to her.

Who will be the villain in Locke and Key season 3?

At the very end of the season, we see Eden back at Keyhouse. She goes into the Wellhouse and wakes Captain Frederick Gideon, the first Echo and demon to cross the portal. He throws Eden in the Wellhouse, takes the Anywhere Key, and leaves.

We have to imagine that Frederick Gideon will be the villain in Locke and Key season 3, and he’s probably worse than Dodge.

The jury is still out on if Ellie is not a demon. Could she be fooling everyone? Is Dodge really dead? Is Lucas really Lucas?

Honestly, I hope Ellie is okay! I need more Rufus in Locke and Key season 3. We’ll have to wait and see in Locke and Key season 3!

The good news is Locke and Key season 3 is definitely happening. Production has already wrapped, so we should see the new season sometime soon! We’ll share the Locke and Key season 3 release date when we find out.
