Full list of Netflix shows canceled (and renewed) in 2021

Netflix just renewed on its most popular and best shows, but they also just announced that another show has been canceled.

Netflix has a reputation for canceling many of the Netflix original shows, but throughout 2021, we’ve seen Netflix announce way more renewals than cancellations!

Find out if your favorite shows like You, Virgin River, Outer Banks, Julie and the Phantoms, The Witcher, and more are coming back for new seasons below.

Below, we shared the full list of Netflix original shows canceled and renewed in 2021. Last year, Netflix canceled and renewed a bunch of popular shows, so it’s easy to see why Netflix subscribers are expecting lots of news.

Netflix shows canceled and renewed

We have some incredible news for fans of Outer Banks! Netflix just officially confirmed Outer Banks season 3 is happening. Production starts soon, so we should see the Outer Banks season 3 release date sometime in 2022.

In December 2021, Netflix also revealed that Cowboy Bebop, one of the most highly anticipated Netflix shows of the year, was canceled after one season.

In November 2021, Netlfix renewed Arcane for season 2. It’s also been confirmed by creator Hwang Dong-hyuk that Squid Game season 2 will happen, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Netflix has not confirmed the renewal yet.

We also learned that Elite has been renewed for season 6.

In October 2021, Netflix has already renewed You for season 4. You season 4 is happening! That renewal was announced before season 3 even premiered on Netflix, and it looks like that You season 5 might also be in the works at Netflix, too.

We also saw Netflix announce the third and final season of Family Reunion this fall.

In September 2021, Netflix renewed Virgin River for season 4 AND season 5. We knew Virgin River season 4 was happening, but it’s so awesome that there are at least two more seasons of Virgin River in the works at Netflix.

Netflix also canceled Hit & Run in September. I thought this show had a good chance of getting renewed, but nope, I guess not.

On Aug. 28, Netflix saved Manifest after NBC canceled the show and renewed it for season 4.

In August, Never Have I Ever was renewed for season 3 on Netflix. That was a no-brainer!

There are so many good Netflix shows coming in 2021, so it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing more renewals and cancellations.

Many of these renewals will wind up on the best Netflix shows coming in 2022.

Canceled Netflix shows

Luckily, there haven’t been that many Netlfix shows canceled in 2021. Cowboy Bebop is the latest Netflix show to get the ax at Netflix. Tiny Pretty Things has also been canceled.
