You season 3 premiered on Netflix on Oct. 15, and fans were excited to see Joe and Love‘s story continue. In season 3, we also saw the return of other characters from season 2. Is Ellie (Jenna Ortega) one of the returning characters in the third season?

You is one of the best thriller series on Netflix, and it doesn’t seem to be losing its popularity. As much as we hate to admit it, we love delving into the minds of serial killers (wow…). Then, over the course of three seasons, we get to see Joe’s character development.

He meets new people, and while some are brutally murdered by him, others befriend him. We meet Ellie in season 2, and she instantly becomes a fan favorite and a friend of Joe’s.

With how things ended in season 2 for Ellie, we weren’t sure if she’d be in season 3. But if you were wondering whether Ellie appears in You season 3, we’ve got you covered!

Spoilers from You season 3 ahead!

Who does Jenna Ortega play in You?

Jenna Ortega plays Ellie in the hit Netflix original. We’re introduced to her in season 2 as the younger sister of Delilah. The sisters live in the same apartment building as Joe. At the end of season 2, Ellie is instructed by Joe to leave Los Angeles and start a new life. However, he vows to keep sending her money.

Is Jenna Ortega in You season 3?

Unfortunately, Ortega’s character is not in the third season. However, Joe does mention Ellie several times. We were hoping for some kind of reunion between Joe and Ellie in the latest season, but that didn’t happen.

Now that You has been renewed for a season 4, there’s still a possibility for Ellie to make a return. The sassy teen was sent to Florida at the end of season 2. Season 3 ended with Joe on a search to find Marienne. Who knows, he might bump into Ellie on his travels.

It looks like Ortega also wouldn’t mind reprising her role as Ellie because, in an interview with Cosmopolitan, she said, “I love that set. The team behind it, the writers are so witty and so funny, and then also just to work with Penn Badgley again. I had such an incredible time there that if they would like to have me back, I’m more than happy to take a few digs at Joe again.”
