What happens to Love and Joe’s baby in You season 3?

The wait is finally over, Netflix fans! You season 3 has officially debuted and it’s time to find out what happens next for Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) and Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti).

The second season ended on a cliffhanger when we found out that Love was pregnant, and going into the third installment we know the pair are new parents to a baby boy named Henry.

Trying to start a new life together, Joe and Love move to a suburb called Madre Linda and attempt to start over. Though Joe seems committed to leaving his life of murder behind him, it becomes apparent that he’s not ready to give up his obsessions or stalking.

Spoilers ahead for You season 3.

In You season 3, we see Joe and Love try to work on their marriage, as they go to therapy and even agree to have a foursome with two of their friends to try to spice things up. (Well, Love does it to bring excitement to their marriage, while Joe just wants to distract Love.)

It doesn’t take long for Joe to fall in love with his next obsession, his boss at the library, Marienne (Tati Gabrielle). And considering the fact that Love kills their neighbor Natalie in episode 1 because she found out she and Joe might’ve hooked up, Joe goes to extra lengths to keep this one a secret.

In the end, however, he doesn’t do that great of a job. Love finds out about Marienne, and fortunately, she doesn’t harm her. Instead, Love confronts Marienne and basically warns her away from Joe, saying that they have no plans of splitting contrary to what Joe had told her.

Viewers know it from the premiere episode of You season 3 — and it’s definitely proven by the finale — that Joe and Love are not fit to be parents. They’re murderers and extremely toxic together. And even apart, I wouldn’t be confident they could raise baby Henry well.

And it looks like this is something Joe believes as well.

What happens to Henry in You season 3?

In the final episode of You season 3, Joe poisons and kills Love, but before that he gives baby Henry away to a couple who is better fit to parent. He drops off Henry at Dante’s (Ben Mehl) house, one of his co-workers at the library who seems like a good person.

“I didn’t have good parents, but I know what a good parent does: Protect, even if that means protecting from,” Joe tells Henry before he leaves him on Dante’s front doorstep.

Later on in the finale, we see a bit of the fallout including Theo’s (Dylan Arnold) recovery and baby Henry growing up with Dante and his partner Lansing (Noel Arthur). Henry looks to be in great hands and we’re happy he will be raised by someone other than Joe!

However, Joe might be back for Henry eventually. He says to Henry before dropping him at Dante’s that this “isn’t forever,” hinting we could see the return of Joe in Madre Linda. He’s off to France now, but You season 4 is confirmed to be in the works, so we doubt this is the end of Joe as a parent.
