Is Netflix making Mindhunter season 3?

It’s been forever since Mindhunter season 2 premiered on Netflix, but we all know that fans are still holding out hope for Mindhunter season 3.

It’s been a long, confusing road for Mindhunter season 3. First, we didn’t hear anything about the season for months. Then, creator David Fincher said it’s probably not going to happen. Then, Netflix said it might still happen but like way down the line.

We’d kind of accepted that Mindhunter season 3 was not happening (for quite a while at least). Now, Netflix is kind of stirring it up again on Twitter with this teaser, which we shared below!

Will there be a Mindhunter season 3?

At first glance, it seems like this could be about Mindhunter season 3. Obviously, it’s one of Netflix’s most recognizable shows, and Fincher is, of course, behind the series.

We would love nothing more than this incoming news to be about Mindhunter season 3. It would be great if that was going to happen. Here comes the but, though.

BUT, it looks like that Twitter account (@NetflixFilm) is associated with Netflix movies. Mindhunter is obviously a Netflix show, and as ComicBook.com pointed out, we would expect that news to come from the big Netflix account or the Mindhunter account if the news were about Mindhunter season 3.

Instead, it looks like the David Fincher announcement could be about a new Netflix movie from Fincher, The Killer. 

We don’t know many details, but it’s reported by the Indie Wire that The Killer starts filming next month in Paris. It also stars Emily in Paris star Lily Collins and Michael Fassbender. It looks like the news could officially be confirmed tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see if there’s more to this announcement. Could Netflix and Fincher be announcing a new partnership? Netflix has inked some of the biggest creatives in the business to exclusive deals over the years. A deal with Fincher would be massive.

We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but please, don’t get your hopes up for Mindhunter season 3 just yet.
