We have some excellent news for fans of That ’70s Show. Netflix just announced plans to make a That ’70s Show spinoff, titled That ’90s Show!

This is obviously incredible news for fans of the original sitcom that starred Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Wilmer Valderrama, and more.

Unlike That ’70s Show, That ’90s Show is a Netflix original series and will only be available to stream on Netflix.

That ’90s Show cast

If you were hoping for the full cast of That ’70s Show to return for this spinoff series, you’ll be a bit disappointed. So far, we know that Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp, who played Red and Kitty in That ’70s Show, will be back for That ’90s Show. 

We have to assume that some of the original cast will make an appearance at some point.

That ’90s Show synopsis

Netflix shared the synopsis of That ’90s Show, and the premise is interesting!

"Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes."

Obviously, it sounds like Laura Prepon and Topher Grace could return in some capacity. They would be the most likely cast members who would join the spinoff for at least an episode or two.

That ’90s Show release date

That ’90s Show release date has not been announced yet. We’re hopeful that with the full creative team and some of the cast signed on to the project that we’ll see That ’90s Show will be released on Netflix in 2022 sometime.

Normally, there’s at least a gap of a year from when a show is announced until it premieres. If that’s the case, we’ll see the new season in the fall of 2021.

There’s a chance, though, because this is a multi-cam sitcom, that the gap between show announcement and the premiere date, we could see That ’90s Show a lot sooner than normal.

And, because this show is set during the summer, I have a feeling that Netflix will want to release That ’90s Show in June or July 2022. That’s our prediction for the That ’90s Show release date.
