Does Ollie die in There’s Someone Inside Your House?
Time for another new teen horror movie on Netflix! After the success of the Fear Street trilogy which debuted on the streaming service this summer, it’s no wonder viewers have been looking forward to checking out There’s Someone Inside Your House.
The new film, based on the YA book of the same name by Stephanie Perkins, follows a small town in Nebraska that’s being terrorized by a masked killer who exposes high schoolers’ biggest secrets. Protagonist Makani Young (Sydney Park) moved from Hawaii after a traumatic incident led to her being arrested and now goes by a different last name.
Spoilers ahead for There’s Someone Inside Your House.
And her true identity isn’t the only big secret Makani keeps from her friends. She’s also in an on-and-off relationship with Ollie (Théodore Pellerin), an outcast at school who her friends make fun of. Makani doesn’t tell anyone about her romance, for whatever reason, and at the start of the movie she is rather rude to him.
Ollie speculates that being seen with him would ruin Makani’s image, however Makani herself never really explains why she keeps him a secret.
It’s obvious Ollie is in love with Makani, despite the way she treats him in public, and would do anything for her. This includes driving his car into a cornfield that’s set on fire to try to find Makani’s friend Zach (Dale Whibley) and anyone else in danger.
And once Makani and Ollie do find Zach, it’s revealed that he’s been the killer all along! Zach ends up stabbing Ollie, and it’s entirely possible that he kills him. However, just in the nick of time, Ollie sits up and shoots Zach with a taser gun before falling back on the ground. Makani then stabs Zach multiple times until he’s dead. Again, it’s unclear at this point if Ollie survives, but we do get answers in the end.
Does Ollie survive in There’s Someone Inside Your House?
We get a bit of a flash-forward in the final moments of There’s Someone Inside Your House, which shows Makani and Ollie dressed up together for what we can assume is a school dance or prom. We then get a scene of Makani giving a speech at their high school graduation, and Ollie is in the audience giving her a standing ovation with the rest of her class.
Ollie survives, fortunately, but the same sadly cannot be said for all of the rest of the characters.
Be sure to stream There’s Someone Inside Your House right now on Netflix.
