What is There’s Someone Inside Your House about?

Spooky season has begun and what better way to get in the spirit than by watching Netflix’s latest horror film, There’s Someone Inside Your House? The Netflix movie follows the classic slasher narrative where characters are picked off one by one.

Netflix has recently had huge success with horror series like Midnight Mass, Squid Game, and The Haunting of Bly Manor. That success has carried over to scary movies as well with the Fear Street trilogy.

There’s Someone Inside Your House seems to be in the same vein as Fear Street and Scream as it follows a bunch of teens trying to stay alive with a killer on the loose.

The movie is based on the very popular novel of the same name by Stephanie Perkins. It came out in 2017 and was picked up to be adapted in 2018.

The new film stars Sydney Park, Théodore Pellerin, Asjha Cooper, Dale Whibley, Jesse LaTourette, Diego Josef, and Burkely Duffield.

There’s Someone Inside Your House plot synopsis

According to Netflix, the film follows teenager Makani Young, who has just moved from Hawaii to a small town in Nebraska to live with her grandma and finish high school at Osborne High. Should be pretty normal, right? At first, it is. She makes friends and even starts to have a crush on one of her classmates.

But all that changes as graduation gets closer and closer. Some of Makani’s classmates start being stalked, have their darkest secrets revealed, and are eventually killed. The killer also wears a mask of the victim’s face while killing them. As if it wasn’t creepy enough!

Makani and her friends work to discover who the killer is before they end up dead themselves. Makani is especially worried as she has some dark secrets of her own. But whether she likes it or not, Makani might have to confront her past if she wants to save herself.

While There’s Someone Inside Your House doesn’t come with the same hype as Fear Street, with the number of people who have read the book (it has over 26,000 reviews on Goodreads), perhaps it will hit the Netflix Top 10 as well.
