On My Block season 4 has landed on Netflix, and this final season definitely pulled at our heartstrings. We just couldn’t believe we were officially saying goodbye to our favorite group of street-savvy friends. Then, add on a few shocking character deaths, and we’re bawling unabashedly.

In most series conclusions, storylines are wrapped up, and everything seems final. The final season could be the TV show‘s most conflicted season or not have that much conflict at all. In On My Block season 4, some unpleasant events occurred that will stick with viewers forever.

We knew a character death was coming soon because there hadn’t been a main character death since season 1. And we knew that the final season wasn’t going to be all rainbows and unicorns, especially in Freeridge, where the neighborhood is engulfed in gang-related activities.

However, what we didn’t know is that there would be multiple character deaths. Both character deaths occurred separately in season 4, but they hurt just the same. If you were wondering who died in the final season of On My Block, we’re about to tell you down below. So, if you wish to remain unspoiled, you might want to look away now.

WARNING: Spoilers from On My Block season 4 ahead!

Who died in On My Block season 4?

The first character death of season 4 happens in episode 5, and we hate to say that we saw it coming. After Cesar shows up at Oscar’s place to apologize for treating him so horribly, things seem to be going in the right direction for the brothers. Cesar agrees to go with Oscar to Portland, and they hug it out. However, when Oscar walks outside to get drinks from the moving truck, things go left.

While on a call with Isabel, a car is heard approaching Oscar, and Oscar’s face immediately contorts. He tells Isabel he loves her and hangs up the phone. It then cuts to Cesar in the house, smiling because things are finally starting to look up for him. Then, gunshots are heard, and Cesar runs outside to see Oscar bleeding out on the ground.

In the episodes leading up to episode 5, Oscar kept reaching out to Cesar and telling him that he needed to leave the Santos and Freeridge and come with him and Isabel to Portland. He promised Cesar a better life in Portland where he can go to school and live a violence-free life.

It took being demoted in the Santos and newly released Prophet$ rolling up on him at his place for Cesar to realize that he needs help from Oscar. But sadly, it was a little too late. The tension between gangs was becoming very intense and targets were on the people who knew that Cuchillos was dead backs.

Oscar’s killer is never revealed but based on what Ray says to Cesar about Oscar’s killer, our best guess is that it was one of Freeridge’s gangs. Ray tells Cesar that Oscar was “in the life,” meaning that he had bad blood with many people, and anyone could’ve wanted him dead.

The second character death happens in the season 4 finale. Abuelita passes away peacefully from cancer. It was revealed earlier in the season that Abuelita was sick, but her exact sickness wasn’t revealed until much later in the season.

We enjoyed her and Jamal’s friendly banter and her wise words. So it was heart-wrenching to see this important character pass away. However, the core four gave Abuelita the farewell party she wanted, which made this sad occasion much lighter.

On My Block season 4 ended with a bang, and we’re glad to have watched all four seasons! The final season of this hit Netflix original is now streaming on Netflix, so be sure to check it out.
