Is You scary?

It’s October and everyone knows what that means; it’s spooky season, y’all! So with the upcoming highly-anticipated release of You season 3 on Oct. 15 and with preparation for Halloween well underway, many are wondering what to should watch and if Netflix’s You is worth the binge.

However, if you’re one of those who isn’t a fan of horror and are wondering just how scary the Netflix original series, You — created by Greg Berlanti and based on the novels by Caroline Kepnes —  could be, we’ve got it covered! Read on to find out if it’s a show for you!

Is You scary?

Well, it depends on the individual’s tolerance for “scary.” While there’s no jump scares, ghosts or ghouls in the series, the popular Netflix show is still a dark, gritty thriller, and still has its fair share of blood and guts.

Although we wouldn’t say You screams scary, it still holds some frighteningly realistic elements which will definitely be giving lots of viewers the creeps, while also keeping them glued in their seats.

The Parents Guide on You‘s IMDb page rates the show “moderate” in terms of violence and gore, and once again “moderate” for frightening and intense scenes.

Joe Goldberg (played by Gossip Girl alumn Penn Badgley) throughout seasons 1 and 2 grows more and more obsessive and dangerous, and while the show doesn’t aim to scare viewers in the traditional sense, it still achieves its goal through giving viewers an intimate view into a psychopath’s mind. We’re sure season 3 will be just as thrilling as the first two.

After all, we live in a pretty scary world, and what’s scarier than realizing that what we’re watching on screen could actually occur to any of us?

With a 90% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s hard not to declare You as one of Netflix’s best TV shows! We think it’s brilliant and well worth the watch, and definitely recommend it as a Halloween binge.
